The right MRI scanner must fit your project.

Buying a used MRI scanner involves much more than field strength in tesla. Intended examinations, volumes, coils, software, magnet condition and available space need to be considered together. Spinergy Medical connects equipment sales, sourcing and technical support for healthcare facilities, veterinary clinics and industry professionals.

We work with MRI systems from major manufacturers including GE, Siemens, Philips, Canon and ESAOTE. We can start with an exact model or requirements still being developed, comparing the requested configuration with information about the actual equipment and destination site.

Public stock and models we can source are distinct pathways. If your MRI scanner is not listed in stock, we can assess sourcing through our commercial network. These photographs illustrate technical work and do not confirm availability of the pictured systems.

LOW FIELD, 1.5 T AND 3 T

More tesla does not automatically mean a better choice.

Low-field, 1.5 T and 3 T MRI systems address different combinations of requirements, equipment options and constraints. Assessment should start with the examinations the facility plans to offer, required performance and actual configuration. Dedicated MSK and whole-body systems also require a check of their intended anatomical coverage.

Field strength is only part of the comparison: gradients, coils, receive channels, software and applications contribute to the system’s capabilities. A 3 T system does not automatically replace consideration of 1.5 T, and two machines with the same field may have very different equipment options.

USED AND REFURBISHED

Ask what has been checked, not just how it is described.

For a refurbished MRI system, understand the initial condition, agreed work, affected components and available evidence. The term alone does not guarantee new coils, every software option or uniform coverage: condition, checks and warranty should be stated explicitly.

For superconducting magnets, cryogenic architecture, operating condition, available helium information and service history also matter. Cold head, compressor and cooling should be assessed where present. Not every system needs the same services, and a permanent magnet does not follow the same cryogenic pathway.

TOTAL BUDGET

What does a used MRI scanner cost? The magnet is not the only item.

Model, field strength, year, configuration, equipment options, condition and services affect a used MRI scanner’s price. Consider the work needed to bring it to the new site: deinstallation, transport, moving, preparation and installation, plus any planned magnet activities.

The facility budget may include RF shielding, cooling or a chiller, power, building works, access and planning. Cryogenic requirements and emergency venting, where applicable, depend on the technology and system documentation. They need checking rather than being inferred from field strength alone.

Low-helium architectures and systems marketed as helium-free need a specific comparison. These descriptions do not all mean the same thing and do not automatically eliminate cooling, maintenance or installation costs. For used equipment, check the features, availability and condition of the proposed configuration.

You can also name another manufacturer’s system or keep the selection open. Explain which features are essential and where alternatives may be considered. Before getting started

Can I request an MRI system that is not in stock?

Yes. We can assess a commercial-network search based on a model or requirements. Feasibility, availability and timing must be confirmed for the individual opportunity.

Is 1.5 T or 3 T better for a used MRI scanner?

There is no single answer for every facility. Intended examinations, configuration, coils, software, volumes, space and budget all matter. Discuss selection with clinical and technical professionals rather than relying on tesla alone.

What does refurbishment include?

The scope is defined for the actual system: initial condition, work, components, checks and documentation. Request the offer details; refurbished systems do not all have the same equipment options or coverage.

Are transport, cryogenics and installation included?

They can be included in agreed activities, but should not be assumed to be part of every offer. The system, starting condition and destination determine the services needed and their scope.

Yes. We can discuss assessment and the possible pathway for the existing system alongside your new requirements. Interest, terms and feasibility of a transaction remain subject to confirmation.
